Learning & Development Forum Series: Engaging Employees in Conversations About L&D: Performance, Potential, and Career Aspirations

People often leave jobs when the only way to move up and advance, is to get out. A job that was once a great fit might now feel like a dead-end. Now, more than ever, people are rethinking their careers and work environments, and there is an immediate need to understand an employee’s motivation and drivers. To ease turnover, build engagement and performance, we need to see people as individuals with aspirations and goals.

In this experiential session, learn how to set managers and employees up for an employee-led honest conversation about their interests, development, and career goals.  Using a visual model, employees will better understand how their career has evolved and better grasp what will help them continue making progress.

Jamie Resker

Founder & Practice Leader, Employee Performance Solutions

Jamie Resker understands HR professionals' frustrations when managers avoid addressing performance issues, leaving HR to step in without prior conversations. With over two decades of HR and management experience, Jamie has created practical, actionable tools to address these challenges.
Her firsthand experience with annual reviews, vague ratings, and generic feedback inspired her to develop the Employee Performance Continuum, which holistically assesses performance, and the Root Cause Analysis and Turnaround Method, which helps managers clarify issues and set clear, future-focused expectations. These tools foster two-way, growth-oriented conversations that eliminate passive feedback waiting and inspire proactive engagement.
Jamie’s Learn, Try, and Apply training ensures that feedback is accessible, non-critical, and empowering, transforming it into a trust and measurable growth tool. Through Employee Performance Solutions, Jamie partners with organizations to deliver science-backed, immediately applicable training that drives alignment, collaboration, and lasting change.
